On Assignment

Working an assignment for the county government, detective Michael Gates soon found himself on assignment for the Lord. Twenty years later, his four children are serving God in various locations around the world. Tonya cares for her young family in Missouri. Eddy serves refugees in the Middle East. Wendy works in a nursing home in the Southwest. Levi is still in Texas, dependent on a cane, struggling with pain, and battling discouragement.

But a detective’s past can crop back up. Political operatives track down the siblings, looking for information about one of their dad’s old cases. When Levi discovers potentially incriminating photos, rival politicians pressure him to hand them over. Levi wants only to do the right thing, if he can figure out what the right thing is.

In this fictional story of an encounter with the ruthless world of politics, Levi and his siblings strive to leave a witness that they are on assignment for a different kingdom.
