As the young rebel rode through town on his spirited horse, he reveled in the freedom to make his own choices. He like to show off his riding prowess and choose his own friends. Someday he would go anywhere he liked. He would show his family and community what he could do.

But a change was in the making, and Sanford found it harder and harder to enjoy his selfish pursuits. When he finally yielded to God, he found his adventures only beginning. Instead of making a name for himself, he now wanted to glorify God's name. From Virginia to Costa Rica and elsewhere, God gave him many opportunities to do just that.

When a man embraces God's call, anything can happen, and God used Sanford to expand His kingdom in new and innovative ways. But even though he experienced many exciting adventures, his life consisted primarily of serving God in ordinary ways - and filled to the brim with hard work, difficult questions, and relationship challenges.

This updated edition has several added chapters describing the last years of Sanford's life. Although his own work came to an end, the trail he blazed still burns for others.
